SureNotes app icon Private beta — now recruiting

Your setlist, your charts, your whole show — ready before you hit the stage.

SureNotes is an iPad app built for working musicians: song charts, ChordPro, setlists, and a distraction-free Performance Mode with hands-free pedal and Apple Pencil control. We're looking for musicians to help stress-test it before launch.

Join the Beta on TestFlight See What's Inside

Requires an iPad on iPadOS 16.6 or later. Free to test — no purchase required.

Getting Started

From TestFlight to your first setlist in five steps

No account creation, no setup wizard — just install and start bringing in your own charts.

Install TestFlight, then SureNotes

Tap the "Join the Beta" link above on your iPad. It opens Apple's TestFlight app (install it first from the App Store if you don't have it), where you'll accept the invite and install SureNotes.

Create your band

On first launch, SureNotes sets up a default band workspace for you. Everything — songs, setlists, shows — lives inside a band, even if it's just you for now.

Bring in a chart

Import a PDF, a ChordPro (.cho/.pro) file, plain text, or a photo of paper charts (Settings → Bulk Attach, or Scan to PDF from the camera). Don't have any handy? Try pasting in a ChordPro song to see the chord/lyric rendering and transposition in action.

Build a setlist

Add a few songs to a setlist, then attach that setlist to a Show. Attaching freezes a snapshot of the order — the safe, "what we're actually playing tonight" copy that survives later edits to the setlist itself.

Try Performance Mode

Open your Show and tap into Performance Mode — the clean, full-screen view designed to be read from a stand. If you've got a Bluetooth page-turn pedal or an Apple Pencil, this is where they come in.

See What's Inside

What's actually in the app

A tour of every major area — enough to know what you're looking at, and what's worth putting through its paces.

Library

📚 Library & Import

Your song catalog, organized by band. Import PDF, ChordPro, plain text, and image charts individually or in bulk — SureNotes suggests a matching song by filename so you're not hand-matching dozens of files one at a time.

  • CSV import for bulk song metadata
  • Library Cleanup tool flags likely duplicates and chart-less songs
  • Attach multiple charts and a backing track per song
Reader

📖 Reader

Where you view and mark up a chart outside of a live show — practicing, prepping, or just double-checking a chart before a gig.

  • Freehand ink, shapes, stamps, and text annotations with real Apple Pencil pressure/tilt support
  • Bookmarks and hands-free repeat links (hold your pedal to jump to a chorus, ending, or D.S.)
  • Half-page turning and continuous autoscroll, every chart type
ChordPro

🎸 ChordPro Power Tools

SureNotes parses and renders standard ChordPro natively — chords over lyrics, not just plain text.

  • Non-destructive transposition, capo math, sounding vs. chord-shape key
  • Two-column layout, hide chords/hide lyrics, transposing-instrument support (Bb/Eb/F)
  • Export any chart to a paginated PDF
Shows

🎤 Setlists & Shows

Setlists are your working drafts; Shows are frozen, gig-ready snapshots that stay playable forever, even below your subscription tier.

  • Preflight checklist — catch a missing chart or backing track before you're on stage
  • Quick Song — pull any song into the live running order mid-set without touching the saved setlist
  • Export a show or setlist as PDF, plain text, or CSV
Live

đŸ•šī¸ Performance Mode

A dedicated, distraction-free view for when you're actually playing — bigger charts, simpler chrome, and every hands-free control this app has.

  • Configurable tap zones for page turns without looking down
  • Bluetooth pedal support: page turns, autoscroll start/stop, custom button assignments
  • Apple Pencil squeeze/double-tap for fast tool switching mid-annotation
Practice

đŸŽ¯ Tuner & Metronome

Two things every working musician reaches for constantly, built in rather than left to a separate app.

  • Chromatic tuner with cents display, usable from Reader or Performance Mode
  • Metronome with count-in styles matched to real feel (straight, shuffle, 6/8, 12/8) and a "get ready" pre-roll
Data

💾 Backup & Export

SureNotes is local-first — your library is real data on your device, not just a cache of something in the cloud.

  • One-tap full backup to Files, iCloud Drive, or AirDrop
  • Restore replaces your current library from a chosen backup file
  • Song templates and setlist/show exports for sharing outside the app

Testing Program

What we actually need from you

Real usage finds real bugs. The most valuable testing doesn't happen at a desk — it happens at a rehearsal or a gig.

Good testing looks like

  • Bring your own real charts — PDFs, ChordPro files, whatever you actually gig with
  • Build at least one real setlist and attach it to a Show
  • Use Performance Mode somewhere other than your couch — a rehearsal room, a stand, a real pedal if you have one
  • Try the tuner and metronome mid-practice, not just on launch
  • Push on the edges: huge setlists, oddly-formatted ChordPro, low storage, airplane mode
  • Tell us what's confusing, not just what's broken

Reporting a bug

Every report goes through one form — it takes about two minutes and it's how we track testing for the rewards below.

Open the Bug Report Form

We sort every report by severity:

Critical Major Minor

The more specific your report — what you tapped, what you expected, what happened instead, and a screenshot if you can — the more useful it is, and the more it counts toward the tester rewards.

Tester Rewards

Our top 10 testers get Legacy Individual Pro — free, forever

Not a discount code. Permanent access to every current and future Pro feature, for as long as you use SureNotes.

Top 10 Testers

At the end of the beta, we'll rank every tester and hand-deliver Legacy Individual Pro codes to the top 10 — our way of saying thanks to the people who actually helped make this thing solid.

01

Real bugs, real impact

Finding something that crashes, loses data, or breaks a core workflow counts far more than a typo — but every valid report counts.

02

Clear, actionable reports

Steps to reproduce, your device, and a screenshot or screen recording turn a report into something we can actually fix.

03

Real-world testing

Using SureNotes at an actual rehearsal or gig — not just poking around at a desk — is the single most valuable thing a tester can do.

04

Breadth, not just volume

Testers who cover a lot of ground — charts, setlists, performance mode, export, the tuner — rank higher than one deep dive on a single screen.

05

Sticking with it

The beta runs for a few weeks. Testers who stay engaged throughout — not just one burst on day one — rank higher.

06

Useful feedback, not just bugs

Workflow friction, missing features, and "here's how I'd actually use this on a real gig" feedback all factor in.

FAQ

Before you ask

What devices does SureNotes support?

iPad only, running iPadOS 16.6 or later. There's no iPhone or Mac version during the beta.

Is the beta free?

Yes — TestFlight installs are free for the whole beta period, including every Pro feature, so you can put the full app through its paces.

Will my data carry over when the app launches?

Yes. SureNotes is local-first — your library lives on your device — and everything you build during the beta stays in place through updates and into the public launch.

How long does the beta run?

We'll announce the close date on the same channels you found this page through. Testers who stick around for the whole window rank higher for the top 10 rewards.

I don't have a Bluetooth pedal or Apple Pencil — can I still test?

Absolutely. Most of the app doesn't need either. If you do have one, we'd love feedback on that specifically since it's harder for us to test at scale.

What if I find the same bug someone else already reported?

Report it anyway — a second confirmation is genuinely useful. Rewards are based on your own testing depth and report quality, not just being first.
